Lead Artist: Ola Volo

Marpole’s first electrical box wrap was designed by Emily Carr University graduate Ola Volo in collaboration with the Integrated Graffiti Management Program, City of Vancouver. Originally a chalk drawing, the design was the “people’s choice” winner at Marpole Summerfest 2012 mural competition. It was re-worked as a vinyl wrap as part of a beautification and anti-graffiti initiative. Part of the success of this work is that its evolution (from a temporary street drawing into a semi-permanent work in a prominent location) happened through a process of continual feedback from the community. This particular work has already become an effective case study for Vancouver’s Integrated Graffiti Management Program.
