As part of their long term community engagement in Marpole, chART Projects took residence at the Oak Park Field House, one of several community field houses that the city of Vancouver makes available to artists and arts organizations. The purpose of the field house system is to encourage communities to engage with arts and culture at a local level.
Presence at the Oak Park Field House enables chART to establish long term partnerships with nearby community centres and engage local residents in public art activities. chART also uses the field house to mentor local artists through residencies and workshops, to offer art classes and other creative events, and contribute to environmental improvement through gardening and beekeeping.
Since 2019, chART has been hosting Opera Opulenza to bring a new sound quality to Marpole. In the collaborative spirit of our project, we’ve stepped back a bit with our programming at the fieldhouse, so Opera Opulenza could step forward allowing the community to hear some amazing voices.
